Interview with Douglas Grabe, Inventor of The Visiglo Lighted Collar

1. How did you come up with the idea?

We came up with the idea while walking our dogs on Marthas Vineyard. When there are few streetlights and lots of cars you really notice how dangerous walking your dog at night can be. Illuminated collars and leashes would be a great way to increase the safety of nighttime walks.

2. How long did it take to bring your idea to market?

It took us over 3 years to bring the Visiglo line to market. We had a tremendous engineering hurdle to overcome; how to make a line of top quality affordable illuminated pet products.

3. What makes your product unique?

We have the highest quality illuminated collars and leads available - period.

4. Are you planning any enhancements/improvements to the product?

Yes! We will always improve the base product line and will enhance it with new designs, colors, and sizes.

5. What is your professional background? Did that line of work or education help you in developing this product?

My background is in technology. Allan's (our President) background is in Fashion. It was a perfect fit.

6. Throughout the entire inventive/manufacturing process what was the hardest obstacle you faced?

It takes twice as long and costs twice as much as you plan for. You need patience and a long term view.
